when I was little we had a few years of real trees, then we got a cat (and the tree and the cat both lived on the all-season porch)....the cat climbed the tree, and often knocked it over...she also did this to the fake one as well---last time I remember her climbing it was when it (4' tree) was on top of our old tv (the consol type--remember I am OLD)...and well, she knocked it over and the ornaments went crashing to the ground...she went running! and no more cat and tree in the same place (unattended..she was allowed by it if we were watching so that someone could yell if she was even looking at the tree).
In later years when all my siblings were gone ....we had one of those fake trees with the flocking all put together (again 4' tree) so that my mom just put a large garbage bag over it and dad took it to the basement that way--very easy set up, easy take down.
when we moved, I was never around at xmas so I dont remember what tree (if any--since my dad died around the holidays) we had....when I started living on my own I had the wee 1' tree (told its an antique now and worth quite a bit of money if it were in good shape, however, I had it for many years in college and my grandma before me)....still have that tree, yet no space to put it up (or let it get knocked over--no cat but too much stuff here)....so the fabric one gets used and a wall hanging tree I got a few years ago...if the fabric one falls over it only might get dirty and no harm done.
got my lights up, some of my strings are not all lighting but hubby says I can buy more so next week I shall look into get more lights and more lights and.....MORELIGHTS!!! BWHAHAHAHAHAAAA!! (sorry the christmas spirit got me there for a minute).

Ah the good old days. I can't wait to have a house or apartment with my fiancee so we can get real trees. That will be nice.
I haven't put anything up. If I do, it will be after Thanksgiving.
Well after work today went to Wal-Mart, apparently Monday's are super busy... Then went to go get gas because it looks like gas around here is going to jump 30 cents... Awesome. Apparently now that the president has been re-elected gas can go back up.

If you don't have a tree then you deserve awesome lights. Do you prefer all the same colour or multi-coloured?
Pwnd, not sure why living alone means you can't have tree ^^

I like ALL kinds of lights though blue and green are my favorites
back in college I had strings of lights...I had an orange set I used for halloween (and my green set), red for valentines day, green for st patty's day...and for xmas I had them all up with my multi set....I used to make patterns on my window (too bad the crummy masking tape would NOT come off cleanly)... I even made an easter egg with the multi lights for easter.
guess I was a bit more artistic back then.
now I just wrap around the balcony and see how far each set will go

I don't have the base to put one up, don't feel like buying one, and I don't feel like getting a fake tree. Plus my fiancee is the one who likes to put stuff up, I don't mind but meh, so we put stuff up at her place instead of mine.

Oh my, Cosy is the Queen of Lights (should have guessed). I just have the one white set for my tree. Pwnd, Ok fair enough on the three but you put up your cards, don’t you?
I just decorate the tree and the front hall, and the children have stockings on the fireplace. Just enough to feel Christmassy but not be too much work ^^
It’s another sunny day here again, seems like we are getting better weather than we had all summer!

Cards? Nope. It isn't very Christmasy around here for me. I save all the decorations for my fiancee's place.
All we got this summer was sun. So the sun isn't new.

its not snowing or raining...so its nice weather today
fireplace...when I build a house I will NOT have one of those idiotic things...have one in our condo NEVER been used...and it lets in all sorts of bugs, cold air and such (and yes it has the flue thingy and if I remember correctly its not safe to use because of the stupid structural damage we have)......it just takes up valuable real estate and is a general nuisance.
I dont put up my cards either, but I keep them in a place near my kitchen table (which also serves as our office table and general everything gets dumped on it table--we really have no space here)....then I put them in a bag with the list of people to whom I sent cards out...until the next xmas. (I have these bags going back decades too ).
lights...me likes shineys

I would like a fireplace someday. Though maybe a gas one though I do like chopping wood for the fire. So who knows.

there are FOUR lights!

Only up a dime for you? You are lucky... Mine here jumped 20 cents...
I saw that earlier. Such a sweet goal. Caught the goalie off his line and took a chance. Worst that happens, goes out for a goal kick or he misses it and it goes out of bounds to England in their defensive half. Best thing? Well we saw what happened. Awesome kick, took advantage of a goalie off his line. But I wanted England to win...

I recently had a new (second hand) car. As my old one died, my husband went t a car supermarket after work "just to look". We were supposed to go together the next day, but he came home saying he had bought one! Next time he needs a new car I want to buy his without him even seeing it ^^

dont think my hubby would try something that stupid (bad enough one year he didnt talk to me about accepting a job offer---when he had a MUCH better one on the table!!...I am the accounting and such end of this, I do the taxes, I pay the bills, etc...so things like that get talked about first).
our last car (2001) we spent quite a lot of time deciding on....very VERY happy with my subaru! (and unless toyota gets its *&$@ together, will probably be our next car as well).
we dont make those decisions quickly...took us almost a year to pick out our 2 cars (wont tell you how long we have been in the land hunting/house hunting decision....)

still on your first car....my first car, my mom bought (my mom doesnt even drive), and yeah, it was a lemon....when I bought my first car, my dad had already passed....and I had it for 15 years. Still miss my old crx.
my first brand new car was my subaru (even my toyota wasnt quite new--it was a dealer car so it had a couple thousand miles on it already when I got it--and some stains on the inside doors too)....only had 5 miles on it when I got in! Nothing like breaking in a brand new car

My first car paid cash for $250, drove it 9 months. Was hit by another on way to work, totaling it. Joined Air Force shortly there after. Dad bought my second one, using some of my money and loaning me some. Drove that car 3 months and traded it for new 1974 Plymouth Duster. Gave $3011 for it. I really liked that car, but it seemed to draw lots of undesirable attention. It was broken into twice while parked on base, vandalized, side-swpied, and finally I rolled it on a slick road in the mountains of New Mexico. 9 interesting months with it.
Now drive a 1997 Dodge truck and the wife drives a 2002 Taurus that has killed 4 deer since we have had it. The fourth one 3 weeks after making repairs from the third one. Insurance said nope, so front end still damaged from the last one. Near 200,000 miles on both and doing fine.

I paid $2300 for mine. 94 Camry. Not to bad I guess. Kelly Blue Book on it was like $3000. So ya. Will have to car shop with the fiancee once we get married. Her 95 Lebaron is on its way out. In a bad way.
New Mexico? Fiancee has been out there the past few summers for an internship. Pretty nice place out there. I enjoyed my visits.
